The Spencer Museum of Art’s Curricular Resources Database brings together a variety of assignments and activities that incorporate the Museum’s collections. Created by University of Kansas instructors, these assignments offer examples of multidisciplinary instruction and research using works of art, as well as prompts to stimulate the development of new assignments. Each assignment includes a selection of related objects to help instructors begin connecting curricular topics and goals to works in the Spencer’s collections. You can search assignments by keyword, activity type, and class size. All assignments are meant to be adaptable across topics, departments, and disciplines. To view assignments that were specifically developed for online, remote, or hybrid classes, search Online/Hybrid in Activity Type.

Each assignment includes a selection of related objects to help get you started connecting your curricular topics and goals to works in the Spencer’s collections. The Spencer Museum of Art is a constantly changing space, and some of the related objects may not always be on view. You can always search the Online Collection and explore the Current Exhibitions. The staff in Academic Programs is available to help you find works currently on view that correspond with your curricular goals.
